This class is for women only and focused on a relaxed pace and a simpler approach to the postures, breathing, restoratives and guided relaxation. Relax your mind, increase energy, and reduce stress.  You will be guided into each pose to safely strengthen, tone and stabilize the body.  For beginners, people with fibromyalgia, joint or back problems, experienced students who want a slower paced, less strenuous class or those with post traumatic stress disorder. We will use positive affirmations based on the evidenced based Yoga Warriors International™ method-Lucy Cimini, light 1-3 pound weights may be used in this class and we will end class with a short meditation or guided relaxation.

This class is recommended for those that feel stiffness, tightness, or pain. The pace will be very slow, and safety and comfort will be emphasized. Class will be conducted seated in chairs, standing, and lying on the floor. Each session will focus on moving all the joints in the body systematically, releasing muscles in the neck, shoulders, back, and legs, balance, improved posture and visualizations for health and wellbeing. Breathing with awareness and guided meditation will occasionally enhance the practice.

Students will leave class feeling limber and peaceful.

Restorative Yoga focuses on stress relief, flexibility and profound relaxation. The postures (asanas) are done in a passive way. It is designed to relieve the effects of chronic stress by using props to provide a completely supportive environment for total relaxation. The spine is moved in all directions to enhance health and well-being. Sequences are designed to alternately stimulate and soothe internal organs. Energy is balanced, relieving overstimulation or depletion. A long, deep relaxation promotes bliss and harmony. This practice can relax and quiet the mind when going through stressful periods and times of illness or injury. It can also create balance in those who have a vigorous daily practice. All levels welcome!

This class combines gentle dynamic flow and long holds in restorative postures to bring the body to a state of calm and relaxation. The combination of movement and stillness helps to move stagnant energy and eliminate stress and tension. This class is suitable for all levels, and is perfect to help balance busy and stressful lives.

Yin Yoga practice consists of a series of floor poses held for a minimum of 3-5 minutes that stretch and condition the body’s connective tissues and joints. Yin brings a sense of balance to both the body and the mind. This class is appropriate for both beginner and experienced yoga practitioners. The benefits of a regular yin practice include improved health, greater strength and stamina, improved practice of yang (hatha and power) yoga, improved meditation and deep relaxation, regulated energy levels and flow (chi/prana), lowered stress levels, increased feelings of calm and slowed signs of aging.

Yin Yoga practice uses soft, deep long-holding, postures that stretch connective tissue and joint sites, while muscles are relaxed. Connective tissue does not stretch like muscle, and will not respond well to brief stresses, hence the poses being held for longer periods of time. These long held poses, together with the breath as the anchor, enhance the meridian and organ systems of the body, helping to enrich and enliven the body, heart and mind. This practice is also a preparation for deepening ones mindfulness meditation practice.

In the Yin/Vinyasa combo class, students will use Yin postures to open up the connective tissue but also be practicing a Yang style vinyasa practice to exercise muscular tissue and circulate blood, lymph and chi.
