The Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) program is a course that teaches individuals how to integrate mindfulness into their daily lives. Through experiential learning and reflection, participants gain a greater understanding of the innate resources they possess and learn to access these resources for increased resilience and enhanced well-being. MBSR programs have been heavily researched in recent decades with studies revealing various benefits such as improved immune function and cardiovascular health; reductions in stress, depression, and anxiety; enriched relationships; and enhanced awareness, concentration, and focus. The program includes mindfulness meditation instruction and practice; yoga and body awareness training (for all ability levels); an exploration of habits and patterns of thinking, feeling, and behavior; as well as brief educational sessions and opportunities for discussion.

Testimonials

“I want to enthusiastically endorse the MBSR meditation course by Kris Picard, which I took here at CMYW in the winter of 2018. Kris is a very gifted teacher and being in her presence is a peaceful and calming experience. She leads the group with kindness and compassion. I looked forward to each class. MBSR is a very accessible form of meditation, easy to learn and to continue as a home practice. The experience and tools you receive in this class will help you transition from meditating as a group, to a real life practice, anywhere! Kris is a wonderful person and an inspiring teacher. I am so grateful to her and to CMYW for hosting this life enriching program. ” Susan H.
